What We Do

Through work, not handouts. We spend as much time as we can with people, so that we know what each one needs.

Children

Reading, writing, counting. And playing.

  • We teach children to read, write, count and think about things.
  • Play is important: those who play don’t get angry. From boredom to trouble is only a small step.
  • We are with the children most at weekends and in the holidays. That is when most offences happen.

Workshops

A trade in the hands, technical skill in the head.

  • Bricklaying workshop. Six students, working for a scholarship, each with his father, repaired their own hut, built an extra room or built a new house.
  • Multimedia workshop. Photography, video, graphics.
  • T-shirt printing and an e-shop. Children print their own graphics on a T-shirt. The T-shirts are printed by children from the Roma settlement or by their teachers.

Work

A father who works holds the family together.

  • When we can, we look for work for a person and encourage them.
  • Every healthy father in the Roma settlement in Klenovec works. In the Roma settlement of Mútnik, almost all of them; before, fewer than half.

Everyone takes as many pieces as there are people in their family.

Get Involved

We are looking for volunteers.

To teach and play with Roma children in central and eastern Slovakia. The first two years in the community are mostly games, and little by little there is more and more teaching.

We use Christian materials. If that would go against your conscience, get in touch with us anyway.
