Guide · A project for Christians

Operation Christmas Child. Want to take part? Leave us your phone number and we will get in touch.

The project is not ours. First, what its official Slovak website says about it. Then, how to join in with us.

For us it is the first step into a new Roma settlement: we hand out gifts in new settlements, and after the gifts, the teaching comes.

operaciavianocnedieta.sk, text from 7. 12. 2025

It is an interdenominational project meant for churches and church organizations.
Since 1993 it has been overseen by the organization Samaritan’s Purse from the USA.
Purpose: to show God's love in a practical way to children in need all over the world with boxes filled with gifts, and at the same time to proclaim the gospel.
The project includes The Greatest Journey: a Bible course of 12 lessons in which a child, through play, gets to know the basics and history of Christianity. The lessons do not focus on any particular denomination. operaciavianocnedieta.sk, 2025
The website states that since 1993 the project has handed out tens of millions of boxes and that children in more than 150 countries have completed the course.

In 2025 the truck with the boxes arrived in Slovakia on 8 December: first to a warehouse in the west, then to central Slovakia and finally to the east. Partners collect the boxes at the warehouses.

Who it is for

This is a project for Christians.

The box comes with the proclamation of the gospel and a Bible course. Whoever wants to help in another way can teach and play with the children or support tutoring.

With us

Where, and how many children?

We have been handing out boxes since 2020. For the 2022/23 season we asked for 200 boxes: for Klenovec and for the Orthodox parishes we work with. In the 2024/25 season boxes were also handed out in Markovce, in the community hall.

What can I help with?

In December, with handing out the boxes; in spring, as a teacher of the twelve lessons of The Greatest Journey. We will train the teachers.

The national team of the project is also looking for its own volunteers: coordinators for logistics, prayer and cooperation with churches in the west, centre and east of Slovakia. operaciavianocnedieta.sk, 6. 8. 2026
