Get Involved

We are looking for volunteers. To teach and play with Roma children.

Central and eastern Slovakia. There are so many Roma settlements that we badly lack teachers, volunteers and missionaries. Without your help and God's grace, it will all be in vain.

What it looks like

Play first. Then more and more learning.

  • The first two years in a community are mostly play. Those who play don't quarrel. From boredom it is only a short step to trouble.
  • Little by little, more and more learning comes in. Reading, writing, counting.
  • We are with the children most at weekends and during the holidays.
  • Where: central and eastern Slovakia. We teach in Klenovec, in Markovce and in Kačanov. All places on the map →
  • We use Christian materials. If that goes against your conscience, get in touch with us anyway. Our Children's Bible, worksheets and lessons are free →
Leave us your phone number. We will get in touch. We will use the number only to get in touch with you.
Six ways to come

Choose what suits you.

None of this was thought up at a desk. This is how volunteers really come to us.

Friday to Sunday

Come for a weekend.

Games with the children in the settlement, a campfire, a trip. Along with that, firewood, the terrace and clothes. You stay in the mission house in Klenovec.

Saturday morning

Bring a game for the street.

A target, hoops, chalk, a ball. In the settlement the whole street comes running.

Sunday

Take the children up the hill.

To the lookout tower above Klenovec, to the meadow, to the fire. The children look forward to the volunteers very much.

Work of the hands

Pick up a brush or an axe.

Paint the terrace, chop wood, help with the building. There is always work to be found.

Sort clothes with us.

Donated things have to be gone through and stored by size. Then mothers from the settlement come to choose for their families.

Volunteer weekends · since autumn 2021

A group from Brno that keeps coming back.

  • The first time was in October 2021. Games for the children in the settlement, lunch with local people, sorting clothes, and on Sunday a trip to the lookout tower.
  • Since then, every spring and autumn. April and September 2022, April 2023. Another weekend was announced for May 2024.
  • Fifteen people at most. We travel together by car from Brno on Thursday afternoon and come back on Sunday evening. Meals are shared.
  • Open to everyone. The mission is Orthodox; the volunteers mostly are not. Mutual respect is enough; everything we offer is voluntary.
  • It helps the children. Even those who had stopped coming to us always join in, and for some it brings them back to other activities.

Give what you can.

One skill

Teach the children one thing you know.

Baking a cake, bricklaying, printing a T-shirt, counting. We have already had lessons in cooking, bricklaying and T-shirt printing.
